The Parish Church of St Mary, Buckden
The Parish Church of St Mary in Buckden is C13 Grade I listed Anglican church, situated in the heart of the village of Buckden and adjacent to the famous C12 Grady I listed Buckden Towers manor house.
This has been an ongoing project for Archangel since the church had a variety of items that were needed to be addressed. Over the course of a few years, we have repointed extensive areas of the exterior of the church, performed a variety of localised masonry and window repairs and have also renewed the roof of the chancel and north transept.
Currently, we have focused on repairing the west tower of the church, addressing masonry cracks, removing loose cement mortar as well as addressing localised masonry problems at the spire and parapets. In addition to that, the clock mechanism of the tower is undergoing a full refurbishment and repairs and the external faces will be removed, carefully restored to their original splendour and re-hang with new enhanced fixings.
